Frequently asked questions

The first stage is to visit our showroom and spend some time exploring our kitchen ranges and getting a feel for what is available. 

This gives you an opportunity to browse our different kitchen styles, understand what each range offers, and see what best suits you. Feel free to pop in whenever is convenient for you, or alternatively start your design process by phoning ahead and booking an appointment with our designer. We also do site visits where we can bring along a few samples with us and start the process by measuring the space. 

Freelance Kitchens provide the full service from concept to completion, with dedicated project management throughout.

We can do as much or as little as you like. For instance, if you are looking for a supply-only kitchen, or want to use our plan and design service but your own fitters or trades, we can help. Most of our customers use us for the full management of the project. 

Firstly, we get to know you and the project.

We discuss the styles and features you would like and any renovation work that may be required. We therefore create a design brief and create a “wishlist” for you 

Then we come out to you, measure the space, and discuss your thoughts in further detail.

Then we begin designing your new kitchen. We produce detailed floor plans and 3D images and invite you to the showroom to talk you through it. We will showcase the design on our TV to give you an idea of the design.

At this stage, nothing is set in stone. But we will have a good idea of the level of products and work required, so we'll be able to provide an estimate at this stage. 

Then we work toward the final design. We can make as many changes as you like. There is no obligation until we are all agreed and happy to go ahead. When you want to confirm, we require a deposit. This allows us to process your paperwork and book in the site survey

No, we do not charge for design service

This depends on your requirements, this varies from customer to customer. 

Prices vary more depending on your choice of doors, work surfaces, and appliances.

As a smaller and more flexible independent kitchen company, Freelance Kitchens can work to your requirements and get more from your budget without compromise.

Yes, we can at prices competitive to online.

If we are unable to supply a specific brand that you want competitively then we would happily install ones that you have sourced yourselves. We can also reuse existing appliances. 

You can pay by either bank transfer or by popping into the showroom and paying on a card. 

Many customers like to visit the showroom to use the card machine and have a chat with us. 

Fitting your new kitchen will take a minimum of two weeks, but usually no more than three. However this does depend on the options chosen. 

There is a preliminary week for preparing the space in which we remove the old kitchen and send in the electricians and plasterers. This work is typically carried out Monday to Friday.

The following week your fit team will complete most of the installation and - depending on your choice of work surface - the appropriate company will come out to template. They will return the following week to install the surfaces and then the fitters can complete the kitchen.

Don’t worry, you’re in good hands and we have a lot of experience to draw from. We address any issues as swiftly and effectively as possible.

If any problems occur during the fit we are on hand to talk to in-office. Likewise, our trade teams and fitters know to contact us.

When building a house it is important that you give yourself plenty of time to consider the kitchen design.  At sometime early on once the building work has started your builder will be wanting a plan so that they can allow for the plumbing and electrics.  

We therefore suggests it is beneficial to start this process as soon as possible once planning permission is granted.
